Zip Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026
This policy explains how information is handled when you use the Zip mobile application, its website, and related online services (together, the “Services”). Features can vary by platform, version, and region; a category described below applies when the corresponding feature is enabled.
Information handled by the Services
- Game and device data. The app stores game progress, settings, offline puzzles, and similar state on your device. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it normally removes this local information.
- Online gameplay and leaderboard data. When online features are used, the Services may process a randomly generated player identifier, puzzle identifiers, completion time, score, hint and guess counts, app version, authentication tokens, and an optional leaderboard display name. Leaderboard names, ranks, and scores may be visible to other players.
- Diagnostics and analytics. Release versions may use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, and application telemetry. These services may process installation or app-instance identifiers, usage events, session information, app and OS versions, device model, crash traces, performance measurements, network request metadata, IP-derived country, and related technical information. We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services.
- Advertising data. The app may show ads through Google AdMob and mediation partners such as Unity. Depending on your device settings, consent choices, region, and the type of ad served, advertising providers may process IP address, device or app identifiers, ad interactions, diagnostics, approximate location inferred from IP address, and information used for fraud prevention, frequency capping, measurement, and ad selection.
- Website and server logs. Hosting, security, and API providers may automatically process IP address, browser or device type, requested URLs, timestamps, response codes, and security or diagnostic information when a website or online service is accessed. The website itself does not set advertising cookies or run website analytics in the version covered by this policy.
- Communications. If you contact us, we process the information you provide so we can respond and keep appropriate support records.
How information is used
Information is used to:
- deliver puzzles, app configuration, scores, and leaderboard functionality;
- save preferences and maintain game continuity;
- provide, measure, and improve advertising where enabled;
- diagnose crashes, monitor performance, prevent abuse, and protect security;
- respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.
Service providers and disclosure
We use service providers to operate the Services, including Google services such as Firebase and AdMob, advertising mediation partners such as Unity, Cloudflare hosting and infrastructure, app stores, and diagnostic or telemetry providers. They process information under their own terms and privacy policies to provide their services. Relevant information is available from Google, Firebase, Unity, and Cloudflare.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, investigate abuse, protect users or the Services, or complete a business transfer. We do not sell personal information for money. Some privacy laws may classify personalized advertising as a “sale” or “sharing”; where required, the app provides consent or privacy controls for those activities.
Choices and controls
- Use the app’s privacy options, when shown, to review or change advertising consent.
- Use your device settings to limit ad personalization or reset the advertising identifier.
- Do not submit a leaderboard display name if you do not want a chosen name shown publicly.
- Clear app data or uninstall the app to remove information stored only on your device.
- Contact us to ask about access, correction, deletion, or another privacy right that applies to you.
Advertising, analytics, crash reporting, and online features may not operate fully when related processing is disabled. Contextual or non-personalized ads may still be shown.
Retention and security
We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, including providing leaderboards, maintaining security, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. Retention periods vary by data type and provider. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Services are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
International processing
Service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Data-protection rules in those countries may differ from local rules.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Services or legal requirements change. The revised policy will be posted here with an updated date.
